Osprey Landing

"Osprey Landing" by Debbie Oppermann. The pair of Osprey are back at the nest at Wilson's Flats, Grand River, near Elora, Ontario Canada and now have eggs which should hatch very soon. In this image the Osprey had left the nest and had just landed on a dead tree branch overlooking the river. The Osprey, Pandion haliaetus, is also called a sea hawk, fish eagle, river hawk and fish hawk. It is a very large powerful raptor, bird of prey, whose diet consists mainly of fish.
